Since setting up her own consultancy, Jenny has ensured that her knowledge of today’s retail environment is kept fresh and current by maintaining her contacts on both the retail and supply side of the business. This has included continuing in a buying role as a selector and range planner with an ability to source and develop product.

Jenny has advised many businesses on buying policy. She was retained by a Garden Centre Group, tasked with buying housewares and gifts. She was also brought in by a specialist stationers, where she provided an overview of their business before being retained to assist in buying and range planing.

“It is important when taking on a buying role on a temporary/part-time basis that you can immediately get right into the role,” saya Jenny.  “Any break in continuity must be as seamless as possible.

“Knowing many of the suppliers and companies involved and having all the requirements to understand the buying journey from beginning to end is key,” she concludes.

I worked with Jenny over a four year period, while she was Utility category buyer at John Lewis. I found her to be honest, frank, to the point and with a tenacity to take decisions and make projects happen. A consummate professional,  her desire to gain a deep understanding of the category she is working on, allows an attention to detail rarely found in others.”  Theresa Jackson, National Accounts and Export Manager at Eddingtons Ltd
